from 12 - 22nd i have been doing a survey in the concord agricultural farm in Unity State of Southern Sudan. For the first time i observed the biggest congregation of marabou storks in the wild. At some point, i estimated one group to be about 400 surounding a waterhole waiting for fish.
Close to river Manga was also a big number of ruffs (a flock of about 20,000) on a canal diverted from the main River.
watch this space! am coming back with a lot more interesting specials of Southern Sudan, with pictures

Hi Deo
It will be great to read some reports of birds from that part of South Sudan. You might want to pass on any interesting sightings to Mark Mallalieu who has a blog on birding in South Sudan (birdingsouthsudan(dot)blogspot(dot)com/). I have a blog of my own which used to cover all of Sudan, but which is now limited to the north birdingsudan(dot)blogspot(dot)com/). The best of luck with your birding.
Regards
Tom Jenner
